During the pandemic, I started a voluntary letter-writing campaign to reach individuals experiencing isolation and depression in lockdown. Collectively we wrote over 2000 handwritten letters to recipients aged from 6 to 103 years of age. Loneliness does not discriminate. Every age is impacted.
Additionally, at the height of the pandemic our teams offered to turn hotels into temporary hospitals, resulting in being able to free up emergency care beds and contributing to saving lives. This effort also led to a collaboration with the police to provide secure places to stay for individuals facing domestic violence as well as working with local authorities and city councils to find places of safety for the homeless.
I am humbled to say that my "vision and innovation to support vulnerable people in the pandemic" resulted in me being awarded an MBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours list, a medal I received in early 2023 from King Charles III.
At the time of receiving my MBE I told King Charles that my commitment to helping vulnerable and isolated people was not over. Notolo.co is the result of that promise and I hope you will join me in making loneliness a thing of the past.
